Cnc Processing Metal: Precautions for 3 axis cnc router processing soft metal. (一）

Most people think the 3 axis cnc router machine only can cutting wood, mdf, plastic, acrylic etc. Actully, for the soft metal, such as the aluminum and copper etc, cnc also can process that. And the cutting affect of cnc wood router 3 axis also is very good. With the right machining parameters, you can easily process soft metals. Before cutting the soft metal, you had better to pay attention somethings. 

Precautions for machining soft metals

 

一、Choose a working table based on the amount of soft metal to be milling.

1. If you want to use the cnc router wood working machine process small amount soft metal, processing mass wood and other non metal materils, we advise choose the vacuum table mixed T-slot table. This kind of working table is mainly used in the custom processing of panel furniture, wooden door processing, large plate relief engraving, hollow processing, small handicrafts and processing of metal materials (small plates must be slightly less than the distance between two T-slots).

2. If you want to use the router machine cnc 4 axis process mass soft metal, we advise customer choose T-slot table which is most used for hollow processing, small handicrafts and processing of metal materials.

 

二、Install the cooling system of the tool

 

Generally speaking, for the high end atc cnc router, there are two kinds of cooling system:

1. Oil mist cooling system. Oil mist cooling pump working with the air compressor can effectively reduce the adhesion metal chips of the cnc 1212 router mach 3 tools during the cnc router 2000 x 4000 cutting soft metal, and reduce the temperature of the cnc machine router woodworking cutting tool when the machine process the soft metal, avoid the tools broken due to high temperature, significantly improve the production efficiency of soft metal cutting and improve the quality of workpiece processing.

 

By the way, if your cnc machine choose the vacuum table, the cooling system must choose Oil mist cooling system. Water cooling will damage the vacuum pump of the machine.

 

2. Water cooling system. Water pump device also can effectively reduce the adhesion metal chips of the cnc router 2060 atc disc tools during the router cnc 3000 x 2000 cutting soft metal, and reduce the temperature of the cnc router machines 4 axis tool when the atc 4 axis cnc router process the soft metal, avoid the tools broken due to high temperature, significantly improve the production efficiency of soft metal cutting and improve the quality of workpiece processing. But this kind of water pump must work with water tank. Water tank collect  the water. Avoid the cooling water scattered to every part of the machine, causing the machine to leak electricity and causing danger to the operator’s life.

三、Use the professional cutting metal tools.

 

If you need process mass soft metal, you had better choose the professional tools. The tool should be made of tungsten steel alloy, which helps to increase the recommended speed to ensure that the spindle can run at high speed. Select special tools of different specifications according to processing needs.

 

四、Suitable processing parameters

 

1. The processing speed is set according to the spindle power, and the normal processing parameters are relatively slow.

 

2. The speed of the spindle is slower than the speed of processing non-metallic materials, generally set to 12000-15000 rpm. Because the slower of the spindle speed, the torque is more powerful.

 

3. The cutting depth is set according to the diameter of the tool. The depth of the cutting tool is generally 0.5mm. The smaller the diameter of the tool, the shallower the cutting depth.

 

Note: When using the machine to start processing, be sure to reduce the starting processing speed. If there is no problem with the processing, the processing speed can be restored to the set speed little by little.
