The difference influence for the cnc machine between Servo motors and Step motors?

2022-09-05

No matter 3d atc cnc router machine, CO2 laser cutting machine or SS CS laser cutting machine etc. Motor is one of the most basic and important components. Motor and driver also are the 4×8 ft cnc router moving system. The motor and driver is a crucial factor for the working performance and working accuracy of the machine. Especial for the working precision. There are also many other important factors that affect the accuracy of the machine. But in the end, it is realized by controlling the movement of the motor and the reception of the signal.

There are two types of motors: Servo motor and step motor. In the world, there are many servo motor producers and many step motor producers. Tekai only choose the world famous brand. For the servo motor, we always choose France Shield, Japanese Yaskawa, Taiwan Delta and Syntec etc. Step motor we use Leadshine, 34MA, 450B or 450C. What is the difference of step motor and servo motor?

Different sports performance:If the starting frequency of the stepping motor is too high or the load is too large, it is easy to lose steps or stall. When the speed is too high, it is easy to cause overshoot. Therefore, in order to ensure its control accuracy, the problem of speed up and down should be handled well.

The AC servo drive system is closed-loop control, the drive can directly sample the feedback signal of the motor encoder, and the internal position loop and speed loop are formed. Generally, the phenomenon of step loss or overshoot of the stepping motor will not occur, and the control performance is more reliable.

The advantages of servo motors over stepper motors are as follows

Comfort: Heat and noise are significantly reduced.

Speed: good high-speed performance, generally rated speed can reach 20003000 rpm;

Accuracy: closed-loop control of position, speed and torque is realized; the problem of stepper motor out-of-step is overcome;

Timeliness: The dynamic response time of motor acceleration and deceleration is short, generally within tens of milliseconds;

Stable: The low-speed operation is stable, and the stepping operation phenomenon similar to the stepping motor will not occur when the low-speed operation is performed. Applicable to occasions with high-speed response requirements;

Adaptability: Strong anti-overload capability, able to withstand loads three times the rated torque, especially suitable for occasions with instantaneous load fluctuations and fast start-up requirements;

Servo motor

Servo is closed-loop control, stepper is open-loop control, this is the most basic difference. Specifically, the servo motor is closed-loop control (completed by encoder feedback, etc.), that is, the speed of the motor will be measured in real time; the stepper motor is open-loop control, input a pulse, the stepper motor will turn a fixed angle, but Velocity is not measured.

The starting torque of the servo motor is very large, that is, the starting is fast. The rated speed can be reached in a very short time. It is suitable for frequent starting and stopping and there is a starting torque requirement. At the same time, the power of the servo motor can be very large, and it is widely used in production. The startup of the stepper motor is relatively slow, and it has to go through the process of frequency from low to high. Stepper motors generally do not have overload capability, while servo motors are very overloaded.

The parameter of step motor we use:
